BEST Aluminum Combination Pro-Bars

The BEST Aluminum Heavy Duty Stretcher Bar offers strength, stability, long length capability, and a larger stapling area. It gives you a full 1-3/8" area to staple on the back. It was developed to feature the sizing of the BEST Heavy-Duty stretcher bar with the same great features of the BEST Aluminum Pro Bar. A signature rounded profile allows the canvas to drape over the front eliminating ghosting. Kiln-dried pine is connected to a specially milled 3/32" aluminum bar. Paintings will never twist, warp, bend or change from dryness or humidity. The recycled aluminum stock provides a structural frame of total strength and stability. The pine outer bar offers a smooth, rounded edges and a solid surface for stapling. Pro-Bars can be cut to any length and must be assembled with BEST Aluminum Corners.

We recommend two packs of BEST Aluminum Corners per frame for a total of 8 corners. Also consider the optional BEST Keys which allow tightening or loosening of the canvas with the turn of a nut. Do the Brace Brackets attach to the metal portion of the stretcher bars? If so, will the included screws work, or do I need to purchase metal screws?

One end of the bracket will attach to the wood brace and the other will attach to the aluminum portion of the bar. It is important to mark the holes for your brackets on the aluminum side with a pencil and then pre-drill a smaller pilot hole to allow for the screw to easily be installed into the aluminum. You can also place a drop of oil on the screw when screwing into the aluminum if you are hand tightening it, but with a cordless drill the screw will go in quite easily once the pilot hole is drilled. Make sure not to drill a pilot hole as big as the circumference of the screw, but slightly smaller, just enough to get the screw started, but plenty for the screw to bite into the aluminum.
